In today’s world, if you’re not on google, you don’t exist. It’s tough to say and even tougher to hear, but it’s the truth.
Today’s lunch was from a local sub shop that delivers quickly and easily. I personally prefer to call and place my order, but my friend prefers to use the internet. When it came to actually finding the phone number to place my order, what did I do? I Google searched it! If that business did not have a website, or at the very least some type of web presence with Google, they would have missed out. For my colleague, if they didn’t exist on the internet without the ability to place an order online, they would have lost the sale.
Having even a simple informative website is so important right now. The phone book and other “traditional” methods of finding a business are experiencing a down-turn. Even individuals around 60+ years of age are comfortable using Google. If you want to keep your clients finding you, you want to make sure that you at least have a website.
Now the next step- having a visually appealing website with great content. So you’re on the web, but your site hasn’t seen any attention for a few years. A FEW YEARS! In web years, this is an eternity! Having compelling content that will engage a visitor to your website is very important. Once someone has made it to your website, you want to give them some reason to stay, or even better, keep coming back regularly. Non e-commerce website should have just enough information to generate a phone call, a contact form submission or even a Like on Facebook. You want them to reach out to you so you can close a sale. E-commerce websites should have engaging content and visuals that keep visitors on your site. The longer they are on your site, the more likely they will make a purchase.
Overall, having a website is not optional anymore. Having a website that is easy to navigate, visually appealing and with great content is a requirement. Don’t let your business suffer because of an ignored web site and web presence.
